Because creation of these audiobooks was an experiment in alternatives for audio,
I am not charging for these books. Instead, you have the option
to donate. AND I would like your comments on the quality of the audio.
These works were converted to audio using the Revoicer AI. While not able to provide
all the emotion and dialogue distinctions of a real person, you will be surprised at
how good the audio is. In some ways, the AI is better than a human. Enunciation is crisp
and makes it easy for those hard of hearing to follow the audio. For those with hearing
loss, women's voices are often hard to understand. However, that appears to be not the case for
AI generated audio.
Audible and other Audiobook apps usually do not play books that they do not sell, especially
not the free ones like those available at LibriVox. BUT,
you can download a free app that plays all the
free books, including mine. The app I use on my Samsung phone is
Smart Audiobook Reader
.
This app is also available for Windows.
Steps:
- Install an audiobook app.
- Find out where the app expects to find books. Smart Audiobook Playe lets you set the folder.
- Download my book. It's a "Zipped" file containing a folder with the book's chapters.
- Copy the book's folder from the zipped file to the folder where your reader expects the books.
- Reset your libbrary so it sees the new book.
